Setting up your FamilySmart Dialer in MS Windows XP
 

Step 1

 From your Start Menu select the Control Option

Step 2

In the Control Panel window select the
Network Connections icon and double click on it.

 
Step 3

From the Network Connections window click on the Create a new connection option

(If it is not displayed as shown, click on the Network Task menu option to display it)

 
Step 4

The New Connection Wizard window should appear.

Click the NEXT button at the bottom of the window to proceed.

 
Step 5

Select the Connect to the Internet option by clicking on it so that a dot appears in the circle to its left.

Then click on the NEXT button

Step 6

Click on the Set up my connection manually option and then Click on the NEXT button to proceed.

Step 7

Select the Connect using a dial-up modem and then Click on the NEXT button to proceed.

Step 8

In the box entitled ISP Name, type  FAMILYSMART

And then Click on NEXT to proceed.

Step 9

Type in the FamilySmart local access phone number we gave you. 

Please double-check the number using our index of access numbers on our web site at WWW.FAMILYSMART.NET

Then Click the NEXT button

Note:
Many areas now have to dial a 1 and the area code all of the time.  You may be in one of those areas.  Our example shows dialing this way.  Check the dialing rules in your area.

 
Step 10

Select the option Anyone’s use so that all users of the computer will have access to this dialer.

Click the NEXT button to proceed.

Step 11

Type in the User Name that your got a sign-up and type your password first in the Password box and then in the Confirm password box.

Click on the Use this account name . . . checkbox to select this option.

Click on the Make this the default Internet connection checkbox to make FamilySmart your primary dial-up connection

Click the NEXT button to proceed.

Step 12

If you’ve entered everything correctly the window at the right should appear.

You can add a shortcut on your desktop by clicking on the Add a shortcut option on this screen but if you selected FamilySmart as your default connections on the previous window clicking on your Internet Explorer Icon will also start you Internet session using our dialer.

Click on the Finish button to proceed.

Step 13

To finish your settings for FamilySmart, there are only a couple of steps left.

Open your Internet Explorer by clicking on it from the desktop

Select the TOOLS pull-down menu and then click on INTERNET OPTIONS in that menu.

Step 14

Click on the Connection Tab in the Internet Options window and it will look like the window on the right.

Highlight the FamilySmart entry in the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network setting box and then Click on the SETTINGS button on the right.

 
Step 15

Click on the Use a proxy server checkbox and then type

PROXY.ACTLINK.NET in the address box.

Type 80 in the Port box.

Your user information will be shown in the User name box.

Your password will appear as a series of dots for security purposes.

If your user information or password don’t appear correctly, re-type them.

Click OK to proceed.

Step 16

You can now close all open windows.  Reboot your computer and all settings for FamilySmart should be set correctly.

You are now ready to surf the web using FamilySmart.
